Do you often travel with your pet? And are you a tech junkie that loves to have the latest and greatest gadgets? A recent article in the Daily Press spotlights the perfect gadget for you.
The Whistle 3 Pet Tracker is a small, waterproof device that attaches to any collar or harness and allows you to track your pet anywhere in the world using your smartphone. Yes, there is a fee of $80 to purchase this device and an annual subscription of $120, but it would be cool to be able to find your pet instantly if he got out the front door. It also keeps track of your pet’s activity (like a Fitbit).
For more information, visit the company’s website at www.whistle.com.
If you are not quite ready to pay the fees associated with minute by minute tracking, you may want to try out the tried and true HomeAgain Microchip. If your pet is lost, you will not be able to pull up an app and find your pet right away. But if your pet is found, and presented to any shelter, animal control officer, or veterinary clinic, they can scan for a microchip. As long as the microchip is registered, you can be contacted. We had a pet found earlier this week by a member of the US Coast Guard. We scanned for a chip and were able to reunite the pet with his owner. We can insert this chip here at Grafton Animal Hospital and registration of the chip is included in our price. You only need to contact them if you make changes to your information.

Summer’s end is fast approaching and this beautiful weather may encourage you to take another trip. If you are traveling with your pet, consider a microchip or tracker that can help you find your dog if he/she is lost. Of course, if you cannot take your pet with you, give Grafton Animal Hospital a call at (757) 898-8433 to set up safe and secure boarding for your pet while you are gone.
