Earlier this month, Dr. Frost, veterinarian at Grafton Animal Hospital, traveled all the way from Yorktown, VA to Arlington, TX to take part in a basic ultrasound class. Although she had training on the ultrasound in school and has used it during the course of her almost 5 years at Grafton Animal Hospital, this class, taught by ultrasound specialists, was a great refresher course.
The course consisted of lecture followed by a hands-on session. She learned that not all ultrasounds are made the same and we are fortunate to have this great technology. The course focused on looking at internal organs such as the liver and spleen. Dr. Frost says she also feels much more confident on performing cardiac (heart) ultrasounds to detect murmurs, arrhythmias, and cardiac diseases.
The ultrasound is a great tool used by the veterinarians at Grafton Animal Hospital to diagnose and treat diseases and other problems. If your pet is ill, the doctor may recommend an ultrasound to help confirm a diagnosis.
