Jackson enjoys a dip in the pool as Archie looks to join in
With the first day of summer only a few weeks away and the warmer weather upon us, the pups at Doggies Day Care have been enjoying some time by the pool!
Enjoying the summer with your k-9 companion can be great but just like us they can sometimes get a little too much sun. Make sure to always provide fresh water for your dog during the hot summer months and NEVER leave a dog in a hot car! Even if you think you’re only going to be gone for a few minutes, the temperature inside a car on a hot day can reach temperatures over 120 degrees! Also keep an eye out for any of the following signs of heat stroke and heat exhaustion in dogs.
- -Unusual breathing – rapid and loud
- Extreme thirst
- Unusual weakness and/or fatigue
- Frequent vomiting
- A bright red tongue and pale gums
- Skin around muzzle or neck doesn’t snap back when pinched
- Difficulty breathing
- Increased heart rate.
