GAH to start dog training classes soon

Grafton Animal Hospital is proud to announce that we are bringing back obedience classes for dogs.  It’s been a few years since we have been able to offer this service, but now we are ready to get going again.

Our receptionist, Jennifer, recently attended the Starmark Academy in Texas and will be starting classes, hopefully as soon as this month.  This class is for puppies or older dogs who just need a refresher course.  The classes will be held at Grafton Animal Hospital an evening during the week for 1 hour.  The classes will run for 6 weeks.  The class will teach the basic commands (we hope to start an advanced class later).

The classes will cost $100 for the 6-week session.  You will need to be present with your pet for each session.  We also ask that you provide a 6-foot leash (no retractable leashes or harnesses please.)  Also, bring a small bag of small, easy to chew treats.

Because the classes will be held inside the clinic and in the backyard of Grafton Animal Hospital, we do require your pet be up to date on vaccines/preventive health care.  Your pet will need to have had a negative intestinal parasite exam (fecal check) in the last year, a bordetella vaccine in the last year, and a current rabies and distemper/parvo combo vaccine (1 or 3 year).  Your pet should also have been examined by a licensed veterinarian within the last year.  We are happy to update any of these services for you but an appointment must be made in advance of the first session.

We will provide more specific details closer to the starting session.  If you are interested in having your pet participate in our upcoming class, please contact any of our staff at (757) 898-8433 for details.  We look forward to helping you train your pet.
