On November 11th, the Grafton Animal Hospital staff would like to take the time to thank all the veterans who have served and fought to protect the rights and freedoms we have come to enjoy. Because we are located so close to Fort Eustis, Langley Air Force Base and other military installations, we have been fortunate to meet and serve many military families over the years. While it’s sad to say “goodbye” to many people over the years, we enjoy each opportunity to meet and serve a new military family.
We have also been fortunate to have a number of veterans on our staff over the years, as well as spouses and family members of veterans. As a small business, it is often tough to give back to the community as much as we would like. Being able to employ these great Americans and their family members is one way that we have been able to do this.
We have also had the opportunity to serve some military pets over the years. A few years ago, we treated a sick dog who was a mascot for a Marine company. We also have seen some patients that used to be military working dogs that have now found a forever home with a local family. To learn more about how you can adopt a former military working dog, visit http://www.save-a-vet.org/d7/adopt.
In closing, there is probably no way a small group like us can ever do enough to repay what our local veterans have done, but we want to at least say “Thank you.”
